last night the tivo recorded a show on G4 that had about a minute or two of dance dance revolution on it. since we're so embarrassed to actually play the game in public (because we suck) tony and i were in the living room dancing along. the ultimate form of non-commitment - dancing to a recording of the game in action. sheesh.

still trying to catch up from the past weekend. i'm waiting for a doctor at work in marin, so i figured i'd get a quick post in.mezzanine was a lot of fun. the music was really good though thunderpuss didn't play any old faves but i guess that's to be expected. we hung out with gill and brian and made our way with the muscle/bear crowd that was there. it turns out my chiropractor is friends with the whole lot of them, which was really cool. it was also fun seeing him outside of the clinical context. reminder: don't wear underwear to my next session.
we stayed out until three a.m. and spent the rest of the weekend resting and hanging out. we went to ikea on monday and bought a new tv stand for the living room. it really looks great in there and finally sorts out all of the cords and stuff that is usually a tangled mess in the corner.
my sister and her girlfriend broke up about two weeks ago so she has been spending a lot of time with me. she's been staying at our house also, which i really like. breakups are rough and she's trying to make it through. i'm just trying to be there for her as much as i can because i'm really her only family right now.

there seems to be something wrong with my hit counter. according to my webhost i have had almost one million hits yet the counter only shows one hundred thousand. one million hits? holy shit!i bring this up because my website is about to hit three years old. i have noticed that other bloggers are also approaching (or have overcame) this mark. i didn't realize that i started blogging around the same time as some of the big boys had. who knew? i owe it all to jessie. we met in college and he had just started a blog. he piqued my interest and helped me get my blog online. the rest is history. thanks to all of you readers who keep coming back. for me this has been a great way to keep up with writing (almost) everyday, which is an important thing to do if you want to make it as a writer.
i also hope that maybe some of you got something out of the things i talk about. i never really went into this as trying to be a teacher or an example, but i'm sure some of the shit i go through someone else is going through and for me it's nice to know that i'm not alone.

yoshi got into her first bit of trouble yesterday. she clawed our new couch. fortunately, she didn't claw completely through, so it's like pilling on a sweater which we can just shave off. we immediately went out and bought a scratching post/perch and some catnip spray. she loves the perch and sits there all the time now. but i think i may have went overboard with the catnip spray. i was petting her and she was making this weird moaning sound, which i took as her really liking the petting i was giving her. then she went nuts! she bit me and turned and hissed at me and arched her back! then she walked away and laid back down on the couch. i had a restless night because i kept thinking that she was going to attack me while i was asleep.

photo by santiagolast night at lalo's was off the hook, gurl! they have this all-you-can-eat tacos for $5.99 special. tony and i decided to go, but then thought we'd send a casual email to our friends to see if they wanted to go. fifteen people showed up! one thing to be careful of: they charge $30.00 for a pitcher of margaritas. so it turned out to not be such a bargain. but we did have a lot of fun. we gathered some troops for a memorial weekend blow out. first andy and alfie gave us free passes to mezzanine for saturday where thunderpuss is spinning. then we're all going to fresh on sunday. it's been a long, long time since tony and i have gone out dancing so i'm really excited and looking forward to it.

"so mom and dad are adopting a new kid," my sister tells me on the phone as i try to find a seat on the crowded muni bus.
"jesus christ, you are not serious." i reply, plopping down next to an older white woman.
"kenny told me that they are taking care of some third cousin who's parents died. she's twelve and she is really family..."
"what?"
"...and now they are going forward to actually adopt her."i'm waiting in the cafeteria. waiting for the bagel lady to finish toasting and buttering my bagels. what i don't get is that i asked for them to be toasted. that means brown. instead i see that she put them through the caterpillar toaster once. they are just slightly warm.
"they bring her to church." she says. i can feel my anger rising.
"they are just going to fuck her up like they fucked us up." i say. the lady beside me uncomfortably shifts in her seat. maybe i said that too loud.
"i know," she says, "you know that mom has already started her shit"i'm sorry, but we don't watch that show in this house.
excuse me? we don't listen to that type of music in this house.
well your father and i will have to pray about it before we say you can go.

this website is not going to become a cat site. believe me. but i do have to mention that yoshi is really comfortable in her new home and is so friendly. she doesn't play much though we've tried. she's still sneezing, so maybe it's because of her cold that she doesn't feel like playing. she slept with us again last night. she's been talking a lot this morning. i think her appetite is back too, because she ate all of her food last night. here's some more pictures. but this is it.

yoshi is so adorable! last night she slept with us and when we woke up this morning, she had used the kitty litter box and ate some food. i think she may have a cold because she's been sneezing. we have to make an appointment with the vet this week anyway because that is part of the deal with the spca. here are the pictures of the new kitty!

on saturday, john mark tony and i went to spca to look at kitties. john and mark wound up getting one and tony and i wanted to get this beautiful silver/blue siamese mix. we didn't have our lease with us (stating that we could have a cat) so we figured we'd go back today and pick her up. we went back and she was gone! i was really heartbroken because all i could think about was getting her. we figured we'd take another round about the kennel and they had just gotten another siamese mix in that had darker colors. i could tell that tony really liked her. he has beautiful blue eyes but what really hooked me was that she's slightly cross-eyed. so now we have a cat! she's about two years old and her name is yoshi. pictures to soon follow if she ever decides to come out from behind the couch.

i like browsing blogdex because you can get a gist of what people are talking about on the web. it's really depressing. there is so much injustice going on in america right now and no one knows it's happening. a quick list:1. the president made may day "USA Loyalty day"
2. you can be held for hours and threatened months in jail under the patriot act.
3. boycotting hollywood can get your website taken down.
(edit: the boycott site was actually a site that allowed you to write hateful emails to celebrities that OPPOSED the war and/or Bush. so i guess it's good it got taken down.)
4. people still read those horrible chick publication comic books.
here are some that i remember reading as a child - which allowed me to read gay porn in church.

last night i went to see annie lennox at the orpheum theater. the show was fantastic. nathan and i had great seats (about 12 rows from the stage). she opened with "money can't buy it" and sang a lot of stuff from diva and medusa. then she did a bunch of eurythmics songs like "you placed a chill..", "sweet dreams", "here comes the rain again" which were a little expected. then she did "would i lie to you?" which tore the roof off. "sister's are doin' it for themselves" "who's that girl?" the list just goes on. she also sang three songs for the new album bare. "pavement cracks" is so beautiful. actually all the new stuff was great. after the show we ran into chris romano, who we haven't seen in like, forever. it was a great night and now i'm all in a annie mood.
